 Primary care prescribing accounts for approximately 15% of the entire NHS budget. The challenges faced by clinicians to prescribe more cost effectively, whilst adhering to ‘best practice’ are greater than ever.

The Quality of GP Prescribing report commissioned by the King’s Fund, recommended the use of clinical decision support tools to assist clinicians with cost effective prescribing. However, the existing prescribing decision support tools do not provide clinicians with ‘best practice’ guidance, until now.

Health Intelligence and First Databank have combined their respective expertise to develop an innovative, prescribing analytics tool called MedIntell, which has been designed for clinicians to maximise effectiveness, to minimise costs and minimise patient risks.

MedIntell uses patient level clinical data including diagnostic, laboratory and prescribing data securely exported over N3 from each Practice clinical system.
