At the heart of Health Intelligence solutions, is the identification of the patients for whom a healthcare intervention is appropriate. We describe this process as ‘case-finding’ which we undertake by employing data mining based upon clinical rules or sophisticated statistical techniques.

Key to an effective case-finding process is the prioritisation of individuals to refer or call to an intervention service, the monitoring of activity within that service and subsequent review and monitoring on outcomes to ensure that the intervention is targeted on the right population and therefore is cost-effective.
