CDRIntell provides centralised storage of patient data extracted from the Practice Clinical System,
which can be accessed securely by the Practice.
Data held in CDRIntell is securely stored in an Oracle database with a web-based
secure front end enabling Practices to access their patient data via a web browser, e.g. MS Internet Explorer.
CDRIntell is updated, (with the Practice's agreement) every night with data taken from the
Practice's clinical systems e.g. Torex, Emis etc.
Figure 1 illustrates how Practice data is extracted via the NHSnet/N3 into the Clinical
Data Repository. Practices can then review their own patient data. A PCT can also
view anonymised data or aggregate reports, however, this is only if the Practice has
given explicit permission.
