Diabetes is a chronic and progressive disease that has an impact upon almost every aspect of life.  There are an estimated 3.5 million people with diabetes in England costing the NHS approximately 9 billion pounds a year. (That’s one million pounds an hour!)

Health Intelligence’s Diabetes Dashboard reports on all aspects of Diabetes from a Primary Care Perspective.  It helps General Practice understand their patients, those who are diagnosed, those that should be diagnosed given their test results; the management of patients; and gaps in their care

The structure of the Dashboard is based on the National Service Framework (NSF) and it reports on:

  • Patients diagnostic status – This report profiles patients with a diagnosis; patients who have data within their record which indicates diabetes (who are not diagnosed); patients at risk of diabetes.  Prevalence is presented and the diabetes register is maintained.
  • Management of Patients – Building on the clinical standards specified within the Diabetes NSF and NICE, a profile is provided of the diabetes care provided and gaps in care.
  • Outcomes for Patients – The secondary complications associated with diabetes are profiled.

Did you know Health Intelligence is one of the largest providers of Diabetic Retinopathy Screening in England? For more information please see our Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service page in the Intervention and Care Programmes.
